Inclusive Business Project with the Scottish Government
Scotland is an incredibly vibrant and culturally diverse country, and we believe this should be reflected in the way we work. The promotion of diversity of race, gender, age, and culture creates positive and productive workplaces where collaboration and fresh ideas thrive.
Diversity Works is a Scottish Government-backed inclusive business initiative from socially-driven employment specialists AAI – Adopt an Intern, building on 2017’s Back To Work project for minority ethnic women returners.
Our previous work in this area has highlighted the profound need for employers across Scotland to increase their engagement with diverse communities in order to access talented individuals they may otherwise miss out on.
This project will provide an opportunity for Private, Public and Third Sector businesses to examine their current diversity recruitment practices in the context of the labour market in Scotland. You’ll hear from talented minority ethnic women, the organisations working to support them, and other employers with an interest in improving their performance through inclusive recruitment.
On Monday 26th November we launched the project in Glasgow with representatives from the Scottish Government, Radiant & Brighter, WorkingRite, Diageo, and Mercer.

The aim of the seminar:
To facilitate open discussion of current employment policy and processes between employers and women from BME communities and to identify actions allowing a more diverse workforce to be achieved and supported.
How we will achieve this:
- Participants will examine the current context for employment practices in relation to women from BME communities.
- Participants will increase their knowledge of the needs of employers and prospective female employees from a BME background, and their understanding of the relationships that result from these differing needs.
- Participants will have the opportunity to plan concrete actions aimed at improving inclusive employment practices.
