AAI wins Diversity in the Third Sector award at the Herald & GenAnalytics Scottish Diversity Awards

AAI recognised for promoting inclusive recruitment practices and diversity-specific social impact projects.

400 guests gathered for The Herald and GenAnalytics Diversity Awards to showcase the companies, organisations and individuals across Scotland making a difference to their communities and workplaces by putting diversity and inclusion at the heart of what they do.

AAI was awarded the award for ‘Diversity in the Third Sector’, sponsored by J.P Morgan, shortlisted alongside Family Friendly Working Scotland and the Glasgow Science Centre.

2019 also saw AAI celebrate the milestone of its 1500th intern placed. 2020 looks to be another fantastic year for inclusive employment, with the announcement of Scottish Government funding to continue the Diversity Works project and significant interest from the Private Sector to partner with AAI on innovative CSR projects.

Gillian McLennan, Executive Director, J.P. Morgan Global Technology said J.P. Morgan “It has been a fantastic evening celebrating the outstanding talent within our community and would like to extend our congratulations to all finalists and especially the winner of our sponsored category Adopt an Intern. The awards provide a much-needed platform for exceptional diverse talent in the industry.”

AAI’s Marketing & Partnership Lead Nick Murray was on hand to accept the award from the evening’s host, Hollyoaks star, Amy Conachan. Nick said:

“We’ve been fighting for inclusion & diversity in recruitment for nearly 10 years, and this accolade lets us know that the work we do is not only enriching the lives of our diverse audience, but is also catching the eye of policy-makers and private sector organisations.

Our work with graduates, women returners, minority ethnic communities and disabled jobseekers all contributes to our mission for ‘Equality of Opportunity’.

This award showcases that AAI has grown to be so much more than the fight against unpaid internships. We’ll continue to disrupt recruitment and can’t wait to work with more forward-thinking businesses to #EmployAbility.”

It’s been a landmark year for AAI after being awarded SME Employer of the Year at the 2019 Scottish Diversity Awards in February and Best Social Enterprise at the Women’s Enterprise Scotland Awards in September, recognising ethical recruitment practices and social impact projects Back To Work, Diversity Works, Disabling Barriers and pRESPECT.
