Arts Journalist Intern with Glasgow City Arts

Glasgow City Arts is a brand new website dedicated to promoting Glasgow's abundant visual arts scene, boosting Glasgow's profile as the creative capital of Scotland.

Location: Glasgow £7.85 per hour
Part-time, 20 hours per week for 12 weeks

Mid- June 2015 start.

Glasgow City Arts is a small company starting from the ground up and is looking to expand their team which will hopefully in turn expand their horizons. They are looking for a an enthusiastic character with a passion for the arts and an entrepreneurial spark. If you think you are that person, apply now!

As an intern your main responsibilities will revolve around generating interesting and engaging content to feature on the Glasgow City Arts website. Glasgow is full of creative talent and visual art events and it will be your job to help find and report on it. Whether that be by visiting exhibitions, contacting established artists or surfing the web to find undiscovered talent, is up to you.

Your main tasks will include:
• Interviewing Artists
• Writing articles
• Reviewing Exhibitions
• Generating social media activity
• Updating the GCA website


The ideal intern will be in their final year of university or a graduate with a background in journalism, the arts, communications or related fields. You will be able to write creative, interesting and engaging articles, be familiar and comfortable with computer software and have a passion for visual art and all things creative.

Previous experience of copywriting, updating websites and blogging would be highly beneficial. You should have basic photography skills and an eye for detail. Current involvement or interest in the Glasgow's art scene would be advantageous. Ideally you will have access to your own laptop.
