Association Conference Research Intern with the Beardmore Hotel and Conference Centre

Location: Clydebank

£15,000 pro rata. Full-time for 3 months. 

January 2015 start.


The Beardmore established itself as an integral part of the NHS since being purchased by the Scottish Government in 2002. The Beardmore, along with the Golden Jubilee National Hospital, and the Beardmore Centre for Health Science, make up the NHS National Waiting Times Centre Board.  The Beardmore is the national NHS and Public Sector Conference in Scotland and as part of its long term strategy, the venue will be increasing international business particularly from medical and healthcare markets.

The venue is looking to add an intern to the Sales team, to undertake market research within the international market. You will provide the Sales team with robust research analysis, information and assistance which will support and enhance sales activity, providing vital information to enable the Sales team to secure conference and event business.

Your duties will include:
• Utilising online tools, apps, databases and SEO tools to research potential prospects and leads
• Making productive outbound calls and emails to potential prospects and leads
• Building relationships with potential prospects and leads, and providing a pipeline of well-organised leads to the Sales team
• Maintain, develop and update a database of potential clients
• Keep up-to-date records of enquiries, and research progress


The successful intern will be educated to degree level and can come from a number of degree backgrounds. You will be a fluent English-speaker, and the ability to speak an additional language fluently would be an advantage. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work in an organised manner, and be tenacious in your demeanour.

You will have a self-starting attitude and be driven by working to and achieving targets. You will have excellent communication skills, both written and oral. You will be able to demonstrate first-class customer service skills. You will be comfortable working independently, but also have the ability to play an active role within a small team.
