About the Company

"Pacla Medical’s BackHug, is a robotic massage device as good as human massage. BackHug is a smart device on which massage sessions can be operated, booked and paid for with the BackHug App (like an Uber). This enables the company to place BackHug in offices, gyms and other shared locations (“host locations”), together with a branded cubicle, at no cost to the host. Employees and other users in those locations can book massages with the App for £3. Other packages are available to suit different hosts.


Pacla Medical, now fully backed by Venture Capital investors, have raised more than £1.8 million to date."


The Role

The company have already signed a number of high-profile hosts for BackHug and have a large pipeline of prospects. In order to accelerate marketing and commercialisation activities in the UK and US, the company are seeking a London based Business Development Coordinator to add to the growing diverse team. In return, the company offer a competitive salary and excellent professional opportunities. There will also be an opportunity to receive a stock option after one year of employment.

As a Business Development Coordinator, you will join the existing Edinburgh based team of Marketing, Finance and Graphic Design members to help further commercialise Pacla Medical’s product.

The duties will include:

  • Contact & present to B2B customers and close deals
    • Organise and attend trade fairs
    • Set business development strategy and execute it
    • Manage freelancers to cover any skill gaps
    • Travel to Edinburgh twice per month to strategy align with the Edinburgh team



The ideal candidate would be an outgoing and organised individual, capable of managing their own time and workload in a busy but supportive team. You should be motivated to grow with the role and the company. Working within a tight, driven and energetic team, you must be willing to step into the many roles required by a young company and view your work as part of a wider commitment to treating other people with integrity and care.

The successful Business Development Coordinator will:

  • Have the startup mindset and be hungry for knowledge and want to explore beyond boundaries
    • Be confident and articulate when presenting to customers where it be B2B or B2C customers
    • Have excellent communication skills, verbal, visual and written
    • Possess good commercial awareness
    • Enjoy solving problems
    • Be comfortable speaking on the phone
