About the Company
Southside Housing Association (SHA) is a community controlled Registered Social Landlord and a Scottish Registered Charity. Their mission is to provide quality, affordable homes and to work with communities and partners to maintain safe and popular neighbourhoods.
SHA has gone through a significant period of change in the last 7 years, including an increase four-fold in its stock numbers and a diversification of activities which range from factoring services and mid-market rent provision to community development and welfare support initiatives.
With growth, however, comes the requirement to ensure the underpinning business processes and systems are sufficient to manage the business efficiently and provide their customers with the level of engagement and digital inclusion they deserve.
SHA have therefore developed an ambitious three-year IT/Digital strategy, which aims to deliver a number of projects relating to people development, process efficiency, data quality and systems functionality to drive overall business improvements. This includes the specification, procurement and implementation of an upgraded housing management and finance system.

The overall purpose of Business Improvement Associate is to support the IT & Business Improvement team as they undertake a significant and wide-reaching business transformation programme. This will include supporting stages of the implementation of major housing management and finance systems (including data cleansing and user-training), supporting IT and business improvement projects, and supporting the business to introduce and adopt new data management standards.
As a result of the diverse nature of the role, the post holder will be expected to and have the opportunity to work at all levels of the organisation, including Senior Managers, Managers and End Users to support the business to embed improvements.
In this role, your main duties will include:
• To support in implementing and communicating SHA’s new Data Standards, encouraging adoption across the organisation
• To work alongside teams to coordinate their data cleansing and ‘getting to know you’ activities, supporting a quality-based and consistent approach to data management
• Acting as a champion and point-of-contact for the data management discipline throughout the organisation
• To support the Business Improvement Manager during the implementation of an upgraded enterprise resource management (ERP) system
• To learn how key end-to-end business processes operate and support in the creation of the systems design specification
• To provide support for the projects outlined in the Internal Management Plan for the newly established IT and Business Improvement (ITBI) team
• To support the business by improving reporting and management information capabilities
• To act as a champion and advocate for business improvement throughout the organisation
• To provide project support for the newly developed business improvement workstreams, including ‘wellbeing’, ‘sustainability’, ‘social’ and ‘collaboration’.
• To support in developing internal communications relating to business improvement activities
• To support in designing and facilitating training sessions and discussion forums
The successful applicant for this role can expect a fast-paced and challenging role, with a number of opportunities to learn on-the-job and gain experiences ranging from core IT and systems implementation to internal communications and training facilitation.
In addition to on-the-job training, the post-holder will be fully supported (financially and with time-off) to complete the Prince2 Foundation and Practitioner courses, providing a grounding in Prince2 project management methodologies. This training will be supplemented by training in the newly established SHA project management methodology.
