About the Company

Adopt an Intern (AAI) is a not-for-profit company specialising in the facilitation of paid internships for unemployed and underemployed graduates. We work with employers from all sectors across the UK, and have placed over 1500 graduates into internship opportunities in everything from Government to Glass Blowing.

The Role

Are you an all-rounder? Up for a challenge within a small, growing, social organisation? We’re looking for an enthusiastic and creative graduate/returner to apply their organisational and communication skills in a multi-dimensional role. As a business with no office base, AAI uses technology and strong interpersonal connections between team members to ensure delivery of our aims. This role has the potential to play a vital part in strengthening and optimising those connections as it is intricately linked to all functions of the business.


• Supporting the CEO through diary management, liaison with customers and daily use of our CRM systems (on-line and off) to ensure a high level of service and engagement is maintained throughout all our activitiesReporting to the CEO, you will get to know what we do and how we do it by being involved in the whole range of our activities, growing in confidence as you work through a range of tasks that will include the following:

• Promotion of our employers' opportunities through various channels
• Assisting with the delivery of vital operational processes, general business admin, and participating in team, client and board meetings (with regular minute-taking)
• Preparation of reports for board members and other stakeholders
• Handling inbound enquiries
• Attending business events and acting as an Ambassador for AAI
• Supporting the sales process by assisting in the creation of leads, proposals and presentations
• Identifying opportunities for business growth
• Project management, including budget management

* Depending on your circumstances, the hours of the post can be set between 20 and 35 per week, so please feel free to ask us about this.


You may apply whatever your academic background, so long as you can prove you have the skills and experience to do the job. A background in Administration, Business Studies or HR would be useful and applications from people returning to the workforce after a career break will also be welcomed. You’ll be analysing current situational factors and contributing ideas to our day-to-day operations and our strategy for business growth. You'll have the maturity of outlook required to present those ideas to the team in a collaborative style and with a mind open to seeing them change shape as they are considered and developed.

You should be able to demonstrate an interest in how advances in tech can support better business practices and processes. Experience in working within these areas to deliver customer engagement would be particularly advantageous.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, highly organised, have a strong work ethic and excellent attention to detail. We’re looking for a confident written and verbal communicator. You'll enjoy speaking to people in person and on the phone, and you will be a good listener, able to gather information from others to inform and underpin your arguments. You'll be familiar with Microsoft office platforms and software.

Candidates must have the ability to manage their own workload and respond quickly to a range of differing demands. You must be happy to work from home on your own, as well as with other members of the team at regular face-to-face meet-ups. You will need access to your own computer and mobile phone. Some flexibility around working hours would be advantageous, as occasional shifts in working patterns may be advantageous to us, and you if needed.
