The Role

Working closely with and being directed by the Consumer Campaigns Project Manager this role will support a range of activities that are needed to enable the development of support towards projects supported under the Climate Challenge Fund which also support the Zero Waste Plan.
The Post Holder works exclusively to deliver their role within the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) supported Resource Efficient Circular Economy Accelerator Programme.

The specific accountabilities of the role are as follows:

• Support the Project Manager to identify organisations that would be suitable recipients of Climate Challenge Funding that aligns to zero waste priorities.

• Support the Project Manager to develop and deliver engaging and inspiring events to promote and encourage suitable organisations to apply for zero waste related project funding through the Climate Challenge Fund.

• Liaise closely with community organisations to connect them with the advice and resource needed to develop zero waste related Climate Challenge Fund projects.

• Keep abreast of developments with community organisations leading on zero waste projects to enable the dissemination of ideas from across this sector. 

The role of CFF Development Support Intern has the following core accountabilities:

• Plans individual varied project activity in consultation with others and within prescribed requirements.

• Responsible for the provision of support, organising and delivering of consultation events for key partners within the community sector across Scotland that support the zero waste agenda.

• Works co-operatively within project teams, and with other programmes on related activities a directed by line manager or Head of Department.

• Ensures all work is delivered in line with agreed standards for quality and consistency and defines and champions good performance.

• Ensures all work is carried out in line with the aims and objectives of Zero Waste Scotland and are in line with the culture, values and operating parameters of the organisation.

• Works closely at all stages of project delivery with other teams to maximise project output. 

The post holder is expected to discharge their core and specific accountabilities to deliver Zero Waste Scotland’s European Regional Development Fund supported Resource Efficient Circular Economy Accelerator Programme, and any other duties associated with delivering the ERDF Resource Efficient Circular Economy Accelerator programme.

Please note that you must be willing to travel across Scotland as part of the role.

The CFF Development Support Intern will be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline. You must have excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills. It is essential that you can demonstrate confidence and experience with approaching contacts over the phone, and the ability to build positive working relationships with these external stakeholders, as well as colleagues.

You must be able and confident to present to groups of various sizes, and have experience in supporting events to ensure that they are successful in achieving their outcomes. You will be capable of working on your own initiative while also being able to contribute to wider team goals.

You should have a solid understanding of social media and content creation, alongside experience in the use of IT systems for administration and management (e.g. MS Office). 

Zero Waste Scotland would particularly like to hear from enthusiastic applicants, who in addition to the above can demonstrate experience in the creation of social media content that uses video creation and editing.

Obviously, a demonstrable interest in and experience of environmental or community action programmes is ideal.
