Events and Marketing Assistant with FutureX

The Role

As an Events and Marketing Assistant, you will assist the team at Future X on a variety of business development, events management and marketing projects. These will include the following responsibilities.

Provide administrative support for FutureX and FutureX events including but not limited to:

• Act as first point of contact for the general public by being responsible for general enquiries via email, phone and websites.
• Event research
• Venue co-ordination
• Delegate enquiries
• Exhibitor and speaker enquiries and management
• Website upkeep and maintenance
• Post and pre-event reports

Provide support at FutureX events including but not limited to:

• venue set-up and breakdown
• speaker management
• exhibitor management
• volunteer coordination
• stage design

Provide marketing support to the FutureX team:

• assist with strategy
• social media
• maintain mailing lists
• manage our blog(s)


FutureX is looking for a smart, confident and proactive intern who is passionate about events and making a positive impact on the world through their work. The ideal candidate will have an events, marketing, or relevant business degree, or have experience in a similar background.

You must have good IT and administrative skills, be confident and personable when dealing with people and have excellent oral and written communication skills. You will be able to respond to tasks and work confidently and efficiently. You must be organised, driven and enthusiastic about inspiring entrepreneurship through unique events. You will be collaborative and work well with other teammates (but can work alone when necessary). The successful intern will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be able to problem-solve quickly.

Other desirable skills include experience of using social media in a professional context, graphic design and web design.

Please note that although this is a 12-week placement, there is potential for this role to be extended after the duration of the internship for the right candidate. 

This role is advertised on a self-employed basis. Please note that you will be invoicing as a freelance consultant. This is a very simple, uncomplicated process. You will also be advised to notify HMRC that you have carried out work on a self-employed basis if you have not already done so. Please note, students in Scotland on a Tier 4 Visa are not permitted to be self-employed and should therefore not apply for this role.
