Absolute Escapes is proud of our reputation for providing quality holidays and the highest standards of customer service. As each holiday is individually booked, we offer a personal service to our clients where attention to detail is the key.

As part of our continued growth plans we are seeking to recruit a Finance & Operations Assistant intern, which would suit a current undergraduate or recent graduate looking to gain some experience in the finance or travel industry. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and professional individual with a high attention to detail. It would be an advantage to have an interest and passion for travel and the outdoors.

The role
The intern will play an integral part in assisting with the smooth operation of the business by having responsibility for paying our numerous suppliers and partners within the tourism industry. The role will also involve assisting with the implementation of a new tour operating system for the company.

Duties and responsibilities will include:
• Paying our suppliers and partners through Xero Accounting Software
• Assisting with the implementation of a new tour operating system, which will involve data entry and require excellent attention to detail
• Processing deposits and final payments from clients
• Following up with our hotel partners for commission payments
• Providing general administrative support to all business functions and ad hoc duties to assist in the running of the office

The ideal candidate will be a real people person who loves interacting with a variety of people on a daily basis and enjoys working as part of a team.

You should be highly organised with strong numerical skills including basic mental arithmetic skills. A strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to work is essential, as is the ability to work on your own initiative. You must be able to communicate confidently at all levels with a high standard of English grammar and spelling. Candidates should have excellent computer skills including fluency in MS Word and Excel. Strong problem solving skills plus the ability to think outside the box will be required.

Experience of working in a similar finance or operations role within the travel industry would be an advantage but is not essential, as full training will be given. As you will be working with the tours we feature on our website a genuine passion for walking and the outdoors and knowledge of Scotland as a tourism destination would be advantageous. As we are a small entrepreneurial business we welcome candidates with a friendly personality and a ‘can do’ attitude.
