Fundraising and Development Intern with Neilston Development Trust

Neilston Development Trust is a body recognised for its leading edge work in relation to community consultation. Locally-led community economic development, community right to buy and windfarm development.

Location: Neilston, G78 3EA
£7.65 per hour. Full-time (Monday – Friday, 9-5) 35 hours per week for an initial 12 weeks

Ideal start date: Monday 5 January 2015

The Neilston Development Trust (NDT) are seeking a recent graduate to help NDT identify, develop and submit project bids & external funding applications and make bids in support of NDT’s social mission and social enterprise activities.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone up for a challenge and looking to work from the inside with one of Scotland’s leading & innovative Development trusts.

The Fundraising & Development officer will be required to work alongside the CEO to make bid and to build critical links with key commissioning bodies and sponsors in the public and private sector.

In this role you will help NDT to identify and submit external funding BIDS to support their activity. The successful applicant will work with the CEO of NDT and relevant colleagues in East Renfrewshire Council in the design, drafting, and submission of funding bids and business proposals bids to Scottish Govt, Big lottery and various legacy and philanthropic bodies. For more information on the Neilston Development Trust please visit their website.


The ideal graduate will be educated to degree level with a background in business, finance or marketing. You should have proficient IT skills including good understanding of word. Excel and other Microsoft programmes. You will be self-motivated with ability to engage with people at all levels.

An excellent organiser you will have the ability to undertake research, planning and actively manage relationships with funders and commissioning bodies. You should have strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills alongside good grammar and the ability to summarise and edit material

Knowledge/experience of social media platforms would be beneficial. Individuals with a strong interest in economic development and role of Development Trusts/Community led Enterprise would be highly recommended. Knowledge of external funding, lottery, sponsorship, application writing, crowd funding, community share issues etc would be advantageous but not essential. Good networking skills would be a great asset to this role.
