About the Company 
the Hour Image gallery is owned by Karen Ritchie and was established at the end of 2014. The aim of the gallery is to exhibit a diverse range of contemporary Scottish Art within a friendly and welcoming environment. 
Karen has a desire to promote exciting and unique work that is not necessarily available in some of the more commercial galleries in surrounding areas. As a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and with many years’ experience as a Secondary Art teacher, Karen is keen to promote her own exquisitely detailed pen and ink drawings which are signed Karen Rae. 
Future plans for the gallery include hosting a programme of exhibitions and workshops and continuing to build on an already impressive reputation for promoting many incredibly talented artists both established and emerging. 
The Role 
the Hour Image Gallery are looking for an enthusiastic person to join their team. As a Gallery Assistant, your main responsibilities will include: 
• Communicating with the public about the gallery and dealing with customers who visit 
• Updating website 
• Cataloguing new artwork 
• Stocktaking 
• General care and presentation of the gallery space (displays of windows etc.) 
The role would perfectly fit a graduate with a background in Art and Design. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a knowledge and appreciation of visual arts. You should be IT literate and able to use and change the gallery website. 
Being enthusiastic and self-motivated with a great attention to detail is also essential. You also should be well organised, able to prioritise and work on your own initiative.
