Kickstart Scheme Next Steps

Kickstart Scheme Next Steps

Thank you for registering your interest in participating in the Government’s Kickstart programme by using Adopt an Intern (trading as AAI EmployAbility) as your gateway. To complete the application process on your behalf, we need some additional details from you/your organisation.

Please check the boxes below to identify the location of each placement(s). Please put the corresponding number next to the location. If your placements are remote, you must still identify a location as DWP assigns each role to a Work Coach in a Job Centre geographically. The fact that your placements are remote should be included in the description above.

Verify the Placements are New Jobs

The Government requires verification that the job placements are new jobs and do not:
• replace existing or planned vacancies
• cause existing employees, apprentices or contractors to lose or reduce their employment

You can verify this by explaining factors such as:
• Changes to your workforce in the last 6 months and why (for example, redundancies and changes to hours worked by existing staff)
• The number of people affected by changes to your workforce in the last 6 months as well as the size of your overall workforce
• About the kinds of roles, functions and average salary of those who were made redundant or who had their hours reduced in the last 6 months
• If you would be able to create these job placements without Kickstart Scheme funding and what funding source you would use
• What recruitment you have completed, started or paused in the last 6 months, including how similar these vacancies are or were to the roles you are creating for the Kickstart Scheme
• If the job placements will be similar to existing or planned roles or the roles previously done by those made redundant or with fewer working hours, why you are using Kickstart Scheme funding to create similar roles
• If you’ve engaged with any relevant trade unions and any advice they have given

Explain How You Will Develop Employability Skills

The Government requires supporting information about how you and/or your organisation will help develop the employability skills and experience of the young people placed.

You can do this by explaining:
• what support will be offered (e.g., helping them with writing their CV, preparing for an interview, teaching basic skills such as attendance, timekeeping, and teamwork)
• who will provide the support (e.g., you may utilise training providers such as AAI EmployAbility)
• how you will monitor the support given to the participant to ensure they will be more employable at the end of their job placement
• how the participant can provide feedback during their placement and afterwards, and how this will be acted on if needed

Please explain how you and/or your organisation will help develop the employability skills and experience of the young people placed.

If you would potentially like to use a portion of the £1500 fund to have AAI EmployAbility provide training in addition to the on-the-job training, select Yes and we will include the following as part of this section:
• Wrap-around employment support, including CV writing, presentation of skills, interview preparation, and transferable workplace skills such as attendance, timekeeping, and teamwork to improve employability, including monitoring and one-to-one support.

Please provide your Name and Email Address as previously submitted. (Please use the same email address as your previous form submission or you will not receive our future Kickstart communications.)
