Manufacturing Excellence Intern with Diageo

£19,000 pro rata. Full-time for 6 months

Operational Excellence (OpEx) are a Global Function whose role is to partner with markets and sites to help them deliver performance gains. Within OpEx, the “Make” function has specific focus on Diageo’s manufacturing operations. They are currently undertaking a programme of work in standardising best practice approaches to Manufacturing Excellence and Asset Care.

This work involves a considerable amount of investigation, document creation, and subsequent management. The timelines for the creation of this material is short, and the successful intern will be able to produce results quickly and effectively.

Within this role your main responsibilities would be:

  • Preliminary review and proof-reading of documentation. 
  • Structuring documentation and associated materials into a clear, attractive and easily navigable package. 
  • Management of document upload to departmental intranet site.

There may be the potential to accompany team members during site visits and Best Practice finding exercises. There is also potential for role expansion in supporting other ongoing activities within department.

The ideal candidate will be a current student or graduate with a background in an Engineering / Industrial / Manufacturing related discipline. This role could be undertaken as part of a university work placement programme.
Proficiency in using standard MS Office packages is essential, with in-depth knowledge of Access and Excel highly beneficial. You will have a high proficiency in written and spoken English alongside excellent technical writing skills. Some knowledge of lean manufacturing and operations environments would be beneficial and there would be a strong opportunity to develop both of these areas as part of this role.
