Marie Montondo – Communications and Executive Assistant Intern, Young Academy Scotland

University – Edinburgh Napier University

Qualification – Postgraduate in Communications and Media Studies

Job hunting experience – After university I had a nightmare trying to find a job and got so discouraged. I desperately needed a job to allow me to stay in the UK and ended up working in a restaurant for over 2 years after graduating!

Internship – Communications and Executive Assistant Intern with Young Academy of Scotland at The Royal Society of Edinburgh

Roles and responsibilities – Being the only full-time employee of Young Academy Scotland means my internship is very varied. My responsibilities include managing the website and its content, writing news stories and press releases and planning events. It’s my dream job!

Where are you now? – I am still working at Young Academy Scotland. My internship is due to finish in May but I hope to be able to stay with the company.

“Getting this internship means that I can finally use the skills I’ve worked so hard to develop. After over two years of waiting tables I can contribute to an organisation whose goals I really believe in. I’m very happy and so grateful to Adopt an Intern for giving me a chance.”
