Marketing Coordinator Intern with National Museums Scotland Enterprise Ltd

National Museums Scotland Enterprises Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of National Museums Scotland. It was established in 2002 to facilitate the commercial activities of National Museums Scotland. It provides support by gifting its potential profit to National Museums Scotland at the end of each financial year.

Location: Edinburgh
£7.65 per hour, full-time for 6 months.
October 2014 start date.

The company has departments in Publishing, Retail, and Hospitality & Events, as well as responsibility for the National Museums Scotland Picture Library and related activities of image licensing, copyright and product development. It provides a professional and innovative, customer-based service to visitors and clients of National Museums Scotland and the wider cultural sector. Through the use of image or the printed word, a distinctive shopping experience or a unique and exciting event, National Museums Scotland Enterprises Limited aims to promote the work of National Museums Scotland to a worldwide audience.

As a Marketing Coordinator your main tasks will include:


  • Develop a marketing strategy for NMSE to cover retail and publishing, Hospitality and Events with particular emphasis on internet and social media 
  • Market Research of business tourism within the Hospitality and Events Industry
  • On-going management and development of marketing initiatives, specifically:


  • Prospecting and client research for specific industry sectors to include qualification and lead report
  • Competitor research and analysis
  • Cultivating new business opportunities
  • Lost lead analysis


  • Data entry
  • Creating presentations
  • Mail shots and e-campaigns
  • Office cover to assist with holidays / business demands

Reporting - Monthly reporting and analysis on:

  • revenue streams
  • venue occupancy
  • enquiry analysis
  • conversion levels


The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level with a background in marketing / social media / business development / tourism industry (business tourism). Previous experience admin experience will be highly regarded though not essential.

A strong team player, you will have an outgoing personality with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to delivering great customer service. The ideal graduate will be results-driven, self-motivated, and show a willingness to complete and finish the task. An exceptional attention to detail is required for this role. You should be highly organised, articulate and flexible.
