Adopt an Intern at the Association of Scottish Businesswomen Business Awards 2014

On Friday night our CEO Joy Lewis found herself in the company of many of Scotland’s top businesswomen at the Association of Scottish Businesswomen (ASB) Business Awards 2014.

Nominated for the Recognition for Outstanding Contribution award, Joy was among six finalists for the award which focused on the increasing contribution of women to the economic success of Scotland while identifying appropriate role models to inspire and motivate others. Although Joy didn’t win, we were excited to see the award go to Fiona McKenzie of Centrestage (pictured below), who recruited an intern through Adopt an Intern in 2012.

We were also thrilled to celebrate with the team at Get2Grips for Grants (pictured below), winners of the Best Performing Team, who recently took on two graduates into their growing team via Adopt an Intern.

In fact, seeing such a large number of Adopt an Intern employers represented was one of the great highlights of the event. AAI users were represented across the guests, finalists, hosts and judges, showing an ever-increasing support from the local business community to encouraging and promoting a paid internship culture.

Congratulations also to Sheila Hogan, ASB President, and the whole of the ASB Executive Committee who did a fantastic job putting the whole event together. From the inspirational speaker, Elaine Duthie (last year’s ASB Businesswoman of the Year), to the delicious food and the very amusing Master of Ceremonies, Lynne Duffus, it was an amazing evening!
