Print Studio Assistant Intern with Risotto Studio

RISOTTO is Scotland’s leading risograph print specialist, directed by designer Gabriella Marcella. The studio supports a range of clients; from Scotland’s leading art’s organisations to bands and brands, working with them across all manners of printed matter.

Location: Glasgow
£7.85 per hour, 14 hours per week for 17 weeks (2 days a week)
Due to the scale of the studio, there is scope for progression/extension for the right candidate
Immediate start

Risograph printing is a process that produces similarly rich colours and textures to screen-printing, but at a far quicker speed with much lower print cost. This process is therefore ideal for graphic arts applications such as posters, zines, print editions and cards.

The house style incorporates bold and playful print, and can be seen across the limited edition products that emerge seasonally through the studio; from pick’n’mix stationery sets, to graphic tees and geometric art prints.

RISOTTO is now looking for a self-motivated, organized and attentive print assistant to help with the day-to-day running of the studio

The successful intern will:
• Set up artwork for print and complete jobs using the risograph
• Maintain day-to-day enquiries and admin
• Fold, trim, perforate and finish bespoke print jobs.
• Approve/check artwork for print – creating colour separations for clients if necessary
• Liaise with clients and make sure prints are collected/delivered on time
• Assist at risograph workshops in the studio and on location (when applicable)
• Maintain the studio (organising and stock checks)
• Source and order supplies
• Develop and produce in-house products

(This role is offered on a self-employed basis. Please note that you will be invoicing Adopt an Intern as a freelance/consultant. This is a very simple, uncomplicated process. You will also be advised to register as self-employed with HMRC if you are not already registered. Please note, students in Scotland on a Tier 4 Visa are not permitted to be self-employed and therefore will not be considered for this role.)

The ideal candidate will have a creative background with experience/interest in design/fine art/architecture. You will have experience of working within risograph printing or screen printing. Knowledge and proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign are essential for this role, as well as skills and understanding of colour separation and basic admin. Candidates must be organised and efficient and able to work to tight deadlines, under pressure. Excellent communication, organisation and customer service skills will be required. Applicants must be able to work from RISOTTO’s Glasgow-based studio throughout the internship.

Due to funding restrictions candidates must have studied at a Scottish school or Scottish university to apply for this role.
