Administration and Project Officer Intern with Queen's Nursing Institute Scotland

The Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland has three aims: To advance the professional development of community nurses, to promote the use of evidence based practice and to support the welfare of the retired Queen’s Nurses

Location: Edinburgh
£7.85 per hour. Full-time for 12 weeks
Ideal start date 29 June, with 23 June induction day

Working as an Admin and Project Officer, your week will be split between two main tasks:

  • 3 days per week you will research and write a history of the Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland from material held in the office and at the RCN Archive in Edinburgh.
  • 2 days per week you will provide general office administrative support including answering telephone queries, sorting post, printing documents etc. 

These two roles will merge and the team will ensure that the majority of time is protected for the history project.


The ideal intern will be a graduate or undergraduate studying history, anthropology or social science with an ability to collate historic information from a range of sources, drawing them together into an engaging narrative.

You will have strong research skills and an ability to prioritise and manage your own workload. You will be highly organised, a strong team player and attentive to the needs of others. Previous work in an office environment would be advantageous. You will be reliable, mature and self-starting.
