Before gaining this opportunity, what was your experience of job-hunting?
Slow and unresponsive, waiting months for replies and often losing track of job applications in the process.
What were your roles and responsibilities in this position?
I worked as a Health Economics Data Intern. This involved reviewing, assessing, and compiling a wide array of economic data and policy from publicly available sources, regarding the cost and prevalence of advanced dementia. It was recognised early on that the quantity and quality of said publicly available data was insufficient for some of the initial aims of the project. Thus, the process was made more challenging, as the evidence base for the argument to convince policymakers was lacking. Regardless of this, through working with colleagues, we produced a high-quality piece of work which is now almost ready for publication.
What are doing you now?
Completing a Master of Science Environmental Management at the University of Stirling.
What would you say to other graduates who are considering an opportunity through AAI?
Working on a real life project in an organisation prepares you better than any other experience. Whether you’re starting your career or returning to education, the confidence and skills that are gained through an internship are invaluable.
