Ryan Archibald – Software Developer, Cognitive Geology

University –  Edinburgh Napier University

Qualification – Undergraduate in Computer Sciences / IT

Job hunting experience – I’ve done voluntary work and part-time jobs before but this was the first-time hunting for a full-time job. I am very grateful for the opportunity that Adopt an Intern has given me, if it wasn’t for them I don’t think I’d be where I am today in a dream job doing what I studied hard for at university.

Internship – Software Developer Intern with Cognitive Geology

Roles and responsibilities – I am a Software Developer and working on the development of a groundbreaking disruptive product portfolio, to substantially improve uncertainty management through cognitive analytical processes – with the aim of resulting in more highly informed investment decisions within the oil and gas industry.

Where are you now? – I was given the opportunity after my internship had finished to become a full-time employee with Cognitive Geology and I happily accepted this. We are now currently in the process of a groundbreaking new product for geologists, to help them with their data analysis work from the data they retrieve from out in the field. I am very happy. We are a very small group and very close, so we all help each other when things get a little too much for us and it’s exactly the kind of environment I was hoping to come into when I started working.
